The Union ministry of law and justice on Friday issued a notification for appointing six additional judges as permanent judges at the Patna High Court.
The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had made the recommendations to the ministry on March 11 for elevating the six judges – Justices Anil Kumar Upadhyay, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, Sanjay Kumar, Madhuresh Prasad, Mohit Kumar Shah and Prakash Chandra Jaiswal from the position of additional judge to permanent judge.
Patna High Court Chief Justice AP Sahi would administer the oath to the six judges at a function to be held in the Marble Hall of the court on Monday.
All six were earlier appointed as additional judges on May 22, 2017
After the six judges become permanent, all 13 positions for additional judges at PHC would fall vacant while the strength of permanent judges would increase to 27.
There are 40 sanctioned positions of permanent judges and 13 of additional judges in the PHC.
