DID YOU KNOW? Samrat Ashok's dharma chakra was incorporated into the national flag of India, the Indian tricolor.
"Henceforth (Jan 26, 2010), for all intents and purposes, Jai Bihar will use Patliputra instead of Patna (e.g. Patna University will be called Patliputra University). We appeal to all to do the same. Your suggestions solicited at s@jaibihar.com." - Sanjeev Singh

AMU to have 250-acre campus in Kishanganj

News Desk - November 14, 2009

PATNA — The centre of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Bihar would come up in 250 acres, instead of 100 acres now, as the Bihar government has allotted an additional 150 acres of land free to the varsity.

“We have received an official communique from the Bihar government over the free of cost allotment of the additional land,” AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar told reporters in this Utar Pradesh town, some 300 km from state capital Lucknow.

According to officials, earlier the Bihar government had approved 100 acres land to AMU for setting up the centre in Muslim-dominated Kishanganj district.

However, referring to the layout of the upcoming campus, the varsity officials had asked the government to provide an additional 150-200 acres of land as only 100 acres would not be adequate for the new campus.

“A team of the varsity will be visiting the Kishanganj site very soon and submit an action plan to accelerate the process and to bring it on fast track,” said Abrar.

Besides Bihar, AMU plans to set up branches in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala (Malappuram) and West Bengal (Murshidabad).

It is a great pleasure of me, being a native of Kishanganj at present a Bangladeshi that AMU is going to open a Campus very soon, Kshanganj despite a border area is neglecting since the independence of India, I do hope it could resolve and give an oppurtunity to the native of kishanganj in the education arena.

establishment of aligarh muslim university smacks of communalism—-a gift of the congress party and its allies….

like aligarh and jamia millia islamia of delhi it will be a centre of fundamentalists ,fanning communal tension in bihar…..

No question arising that an old institution like AMU spread the hatred and communalism rather than it would improve the quality of education in this particular area in respect of cast, religion and creed whatever, Education can never be used for communal tension and it always promote faternity, self respect in the community as a whole and create an opportunity of quality of life and better understanding among the people of Kishanganj, i hope so .
