BHAGALPUR – A young Bajrang Dal activist Krishna Dev Raj alias Shamu Yadav was brutally murdered outside the Sandis Compound gate in the city, opposite the police line.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants, who were about two dozen in numbers, stabbed the 24 year old young man at least nine times.
Shamu was a national-level sportsperson of martial arts. A native of Fatehpur village of Sabaur block, he also imparted boxing training at Sandis Compound park. He was rushed to Mayaganj Hospital where he breathed his last due to excessive bleeding.
Three other youths who rushed to rescue Shamu during the attack were also assaulted. They were admitted to hospital and are reportedly out of danger.
Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, his son Arijit Shashwat, VHP leader Rakesh Sinha, BJP leader Raushan Singh, and many martial art players visited the hospital to see the deceased. The minister asked the City DSP to identify the attackers with the help of the CCTV camera installed near the spot and arrest them for the gruesome killing.
Police personnel refused to help
Samu’s friends said that at the time of the incident, there were some policemen nearby. When they were told about the attack, the policemen were allegedly unwilling to help them and instead asked them to report to the police station nearby.
