PATNA — Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bihar Chapter today strongly reacted to the recommendations of the Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) to the state government asking it to take legal action against striking doctors and said “harsh actions” might aggravate the situation.
“It is better to find out an amicable solution to the indefinite strike by the striking medicos… the matter can be resolved through mutual discussion and understanding,” IMA (Bihar Chapter) leader R P Singh said.
“Harsh actions may aggravate the situation,” he said.
He asked BHRC to push the state government to resolve the crisis as soon as possible.
Earlier, BHRC chairman justice S N Jha asked the striking medicos to withdraw their strike today itself or face legal action, including cancellation of their registrations.

RE: Urgent appeal to punish the striking doctors and compensation for the victims
Hon’ble Justice Shri Jha:
As a national humanitarian society dedicated to promote better healthcare and to defend the hapless patients of India, we are deeply concerned with the continuing “doctors’ strike” that has already crippled the healthcare services and resulted in several deaths in Bihar. We are in complete support of your stance against this blatantly inhuman “doctors’ strike”. We request that you take immediate suo motu action against the hospitals and striking medicos to stop the “doctors’ strike” and give appropriate direction to pay a financial compensation of at least Rs. 5 lakh for each of the victims who have died and Rs. 1 lakh for those who have been seriously injured as a result of the present “doctors’ strike”. We further request you to please consider this as our formal appeal before this Hon’ble Commission to bring justice for these innocent patients. A copy of this email is also sent to your office through fax.
Doctors’ strike is against the Hippocratic Oath taken by all registered physicians. More important, “doctors’ strike” is clearly unlawful under the Sections 2.1 and 2.4 of the Medical Council of India (MCI) “Code of Ethics Regulations” that mandate that doctors must treat patients in need of urgent medical care . In fact, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has prima facie admitted the public interest litigation (PIL) that we have filed against “doctors’ strike” and already issued notices to all the medical councils in India (SC Writ Petition No. 316/2006; People for Better Treatment vs. MCI & Ors.). A copy of the said PIL is attached herewith for your kind reference. This PIL was filed after doctors in Delhi started a similar “doctors’ strike” in 2006 in which several innocent patients also lost their lives. We request you to take immediate disciplinary action against the striking medicos and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) which is supporting this “doctors’ strike” for bringing pain and inhuman sufferings to countless ailing citizens. Please contact us if you have any questions. We thank you in advance for your kind attention and prompt intervention in this matter of grave significance to public health. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Respected Sir,
My name is subodh kumar and I have done PG diploma in Human Rights and now I want to continue phd in human rights (In PU).
Sir’ here I want to give my opnion that each hon’ble post (ie PM, Persident, Govrener, CM etc) tells about castism is wrong but they use their name with titles or surname, I think this is a way to poke castism.
In my views there name should be without surname or inplace of surname should be INDIAN..
Thankyou
