Bihar govt takes first step to unite Biharis in Mumbai

News Desk - November 4, 2009

PATNA — Bihar Foundation, an initiative by Bihar government to facilitate the participation of Bihari diaspora in the development of Bihar, is opening its Mumbai Chapter on November 7.

“The Chapter will be inaugurated by Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi at YB Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point. The program will begin at 6 pm,” Satyajit Narayan Singh, PRO of the Foundation informed Jai Bihar.

A team of 22 artists from Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir (Patna) will perform on the occasion for promoting art and culture of Bihar. The function will also be attended by State minister Renu Devi, Singh said.

The Foundation team, led by CEO Vivek Kumar Singh, were part of the roadshow campaign to woo investors in Mumbai last month.

“Our aim is to unite and form local chapters of non-resident Biharis (NRB) in areas which have substantial Bihari migrant population and to aid them in developing the state of Bihar through strategic interventions in various fields,” said Vivek Kumar Singh, who holds the additional post of Secretary, Department of Art, Culture and Youth.

The Mumbai Chapter has been formed by uniting many individual Bihari groups working in Maharashtra. An executive committee has already been formed on the recommendation of members associated with the local Chapter. The committee will be led by Ravi Shankar Srivastav, Additonal Commissioner (Income Tax). Srivastav is a native of Patna.

The Chapter includes some prominent names from entertainment world like Manoj Tiwari, Neetu Chandra and Vineet Kumar. Professionals from business and academic world – Ravi Sinha (IIT professor), TV Sinha, Sarvesh Sahi (industrialist), PN Singh (industrialist), Subh Chandra Mishra (social activist) and others will form the think tank of the Chapter.

Kunwar Sanjeev Singh, CEO of Regalis Ventures, who is also associated with the Foundation for brand building, said, “Such steps readily establishes a connection to people and real issues faced by Bihar and Biharis can be addressed in an honest, open, and enthusiastic manner.”

Anjuman-E-Bashindgan-e-Bihar is playing active role by lending its office for the use of the Mumbai Chapter.

Modi will also inaugurate a 15-bed medical care unit at Nagpada in Mumbai Central. The unit (located at 103A, Raja Bahadur Building, Maulana Azad Road (South) Nagpada, Mumbai Central) will cater to Biharis – especially poor patients, who come to Mumbai for medical treatment in various hospitals.

Its a good move by the govt. of Bihar to unite and work together for creating a good image of our state and prosper. We have to change our attitude keeping our moral values intact in this rapidly changing global business environment.

This “Bihari Foundation Chapter” is big “BULL-SHIT”
It is not a permanent solution of the problem. First of all why Biharis has to go to another state for Job? Why can,t Bihar Government create jobs for biharis? If industrial investments can be maid in other state then why can’t be in Bihar?
It will be stupid if Chief Minister or any government official joins any such Chapter. Rather they should work towards to minimizing the sartorial and factorials imbalance.
I ask a question to our Bihar Government, that Don’t you think that corporate houses will come and invest automatically in Bihar only if the law and order situation is improved?
The bottom figures for any corporate houses are to “make as much profit as they can in shortest possible time”. If they get cheap and skilled labor (as these laborers are working across the country), cheap Raw material (the same raw material is being in the factories in all part of India) and cheap land defiantly come running to Bihar.
The only thing our state government has to do is to control the law and order.

This “Bihari Foundation Chapter” will only help some selfish guys who want hijack this sensitive issue to work in their favor. They wanted to be known in the political wing which will enable them to get a seat in assembly or parliament to rob the taxpayer’s money like Madhu Koda the Ex-CM of Jharkhand. This is the ultimate goal of the persons who is behind the creation of this chapter.

Same kind of nowise were created before creation of Jharkhand. Common people remain the same only few Madu Koda got ice of the cake.

Hi,
I feel you should not write any thing with such a Heading. a group of people from one region dont need to unite against same countrymen of other region. We should n’t act or say in retaliation.

very appreciating effort to put bihar on path of developement .but there should be focus on keep updating people from bihar about it activities and to achieve its goal .only involving a selective class of people will not serve the purpose .people from all class should be included in this effort .

As per replpy comments to my blogs by somemone well-wisher that why dosent nitish and modi try to create jobs in bihar and atleast stop rapid migration of people taking place now a days from bihar to mumbai aur many parts of country, I have a answer this, Our Bihar state is capable to produce or enhance some new scope in state for the eoployement so that the people from bihar will not go outside for the employement. But It is really difficult to setup this type of oppurtnities. Our state is moving in slow direction towards become a developed state and creat new oppurtunities incurreds to employement and all. The Gundaraj and so much of politics dragging this state to hell. If this thing will resolve as day to day activity in Mananiya Nitish jee Government then new hope can be raise to a bright future of Bihar and its people. Allready Bihar producing number of good students every year but need to improve law n order and ignore so much of politics, I am dame sure we will see Our Bihar in natioanl bright face…

Development of Villages in Bihar is long awaited. Low availability of job opportunities, shortage of electricity, good roads and rail linkages, inadaquate medical facilities and insufficient financial resources have so far kept villages unattractive for settling. I hope that through the Bihar Foundation, an initiative by Bihar government, villages in Bihar would benefit and would raise the viability of villages among the people there who tend to move away from these villages to the slums of Mumbai and Delhi for earning their bare livelihood, bereft of all human dignity and necessity.

I am already working for my village as I believe there are possibilities of sustained development.

I had taken up the issue of electrification of Chakauti, the dark corner of India, with the Central Ministry of Power, who responded as follows two years ago:

” The matter has been got checked up. GOI has launched Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana for electrification of un-electrfied villages, intensive electrification of electrified villages and to provide free connections to BPL families. A project under the scheme has been sanctioned for the district Sitamarhi also. Chakauti village was not included under the project by the state for electrification as it was declared as electrifed earlier. However, during detailed survey during implementation of the sanctioned project, it was found that the village has got de-electrified. A supplementary project has been prepared to cover the village. The proposal for continuation of the Scheme for XI Plan is under consideration of the Govt. The supplementary project will be sanctioned after approval of the scheme.”

I visited the village during Dussehra this year. Even after two years of the above response, I saw nothing on the ground. However, I found that Government of Bihar had done some commendable work by installing SOLAR STREET LIGHTS at few points( though there are still several dark, unsafe areas prone to crimes, for more information please visit my web site: http://chakauti-rkant.blogspot.com/ ).

Bihar Govt has basically realised the need of energy for sustained development by using solar lights, but much more needs to be done as over 90% of the homes in Bihar do not have electricity. No energy has been tapped to run water pumps to irrigate our field, no energy is available to start any small scale industry in villages.

It is therefore essential that the non-resident Bihari community help in installing Solar Energy in homes, agricultural utilities and well as small scale industries.( http://twitter.com/Saurshakti)

As we saw in past that north indian peoples were tourched by maratahi-manas especially from Raj Thakery party Members. It was really sad, The Bihar govermnet perhaps doesn’t know the maxmimum of biharis are working around the country. If Bihar Govmt could be not able to do or establish some National and International Foundation for Biharis. The peoples from bihar are not feel comfortable and proud to say BIHARI. This is really appreciatable to Mananiya our C.M Mr.Nitish Kumar Jee. he started new hope and face value segment for the Biharis.

This bihar Foundation Chapter should be run in a very professional manner with peoper membership fees and rules and regulations to maintain decorum.
It should hold Bihar cultural programmes in Mumbai, and also promote its memebers to donate and take initiatives in Bihar economic development work.
And Bihar foundation should be run on National and International level also to woo NRB to take part in Bihar development
