PATNA — Lawyers of Patna High Court on Tuesday decided to abstain from work on June 25 and 26 across the state in protest against the brutal murder of three lawyers within a week recently.
The lawyers have also appealed to lawyers across the state to show solidarity by absenting from work on these two days to protest the murder of lawyers, Debu Mishra of Araria, Jitendra Sahi of Bettiah and Baijnath Prasad Singh of Aurangabad.
A coordination committee of the three associations of lawyers of Patna HC demanded an increase of the ex-gratia payment to the kin of Mishra, Araria APP, from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and Rs 20 lakh each to the kin of Sahi and Singh.
The lawyers are demanding arrest of the killers.
It is resolved in a joint meeting of Adhiwakta Sewak Sangh, Indian Association of Lawyers and Democratic Lawyers Association that a P.I.L. be filed against the killing of lawyers in Bihar with a prayer to pay compensation, C.B.I. inquiry and also to declare them “SAHID” as they have been killed during course of the Judicial Duty being officers of the Court.
Secondly the joint forum also condemned the statement of law minister published in different news papers today saying that the Associations and their building are not the subject matter of Govt. therefore, the United Forum and confederation of different Association of lawyers demanded resignation from the law Minister of Bihar. The Association also considered the Attack on Lakhisarai Civil Court and demanded a C.B.I. specially with reference to role of the Local Administration.

I personally Condemn the brutal and henius crime commited against Lawyers,defender and interpreter of Law,Kin of Mishra.Trying to maintain Law and Order.I am extreamly shocked
to learn about such a sad incidence against our fellow colleagues.He should be duely compensated by the Government.Ialso support my colleagues who are on strike 25th
and 26th.If possible please convey my heart felt condolesence to the bereaved family.
