RANCHI – After a humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha election results, in which the Opposition alliance of the RJD, the Congress and four other smaller political parties in Bihar failed to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance’s march in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has stopped taking lunch and is keeping quiet most of the time.
Lalu is serving sentences in a number of corruption cases that pertain to fraudulent withdrawal of money from the treasury during the period he was the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar in the early 1990s.
Convicted in fodder scam cases he is currently lodged at the RIMS hospital in Ranchi on account of multiple ailments.
For the first time, the RJD will not have a single member in the Lok Sabha. The party failed to win any Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, which it once ruled using division of caste and instilling fear in Muslim’s psyche.
In 2014, the RJD had managed to win four out of forty seats, in the state.
According to doctors, Lalu, currently serving a 14-year sentence in Jharkhand in a multi-million-rupee fodder scam, is given insulin doses three times a day. However, since he was not taking his meals on time, the doctors were not being able to administer the doses as they did earlier.
