"Henceforth (Jan 26, 2010), for all intents and purposes, Jai Bihar will use Patliputra instead of Patna (e.g. Patna University will be called Patliputra University). We appeal to all to do the same. Your suggestions solicited at s@jaibihar.com." - Sanjeev Singh

Bihar unveils website to file RTI online

News Desk - November 13, 2009

PATNA — Bihar’s unique attempt to accept Right to Information (RTI) through phone calls — Jaankari (helpline no 155311) — was awarded the first prize for “outstanding performance in citizen centric service delivery” under its e-Governance project for the year 2008-09.

Launching the Phase-II of Jaankari project, Nitish unveiled a new website www.biharonline.gov.in/rti, where one can file RTI applications online.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also launched a helpline number (0612-2219435) to file complaints against the erring government officials who harass information seekers under the RTI Act.

All complaints received would also be monitored directly by the state home secretary and DGP, an official informed.

Inaugurating the helpline facility, Nitish, said, “Government officials found guilty of harassing applicants would be dealt with sternly and, if needed, the government would not hesitate to dismiss such officials from the service.”

The announcement was received with thunderous applause.

The CM opened the helpline for public use by making the first complaint against Rajnagar block supply officer in Madhubani district. The block supply officer of Rajnagar in Madhubani district had allegedly filed an FIR against one Dhirendra Mahto of Karaiya panchayat when he tried to seek some information about public distribution system.”

Nine PIOs were felicitated on the occasion. Chanchal Kumar, secretary to the CM, was given a special award for his active role in setting up Jaanakari helpline.

Krishna Bihari Reply:

After filling application form, please note your application form number generate by system and call to RTI Call Centre number 511311. RTI application fee Rs 10 will automatically paid against your call charge or you can choose online payment option by Debit/ Credit card.
