Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Sachidanand Rai, today announced that he would contest as Independent against party candidate and sitting MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal from Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat.
Sachidanand told media persons that he was hurt over denial of representation to Bhumihar caste, who had been “traditional voters” of BJP in the state. He said the party “ignored the community” while deciding candidates for upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.
The rebel politician, also a contractor and transporter, said that he himself would contest as Independent from Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat where party had fielded sitting MP Sigriwal as its candidate.
He said he would also explore the possibility of fielding candidates from other seats where his community had been ignored by BJP in giving tickets.
