CAT 2008 results on Jan 9

Shweta Singh - January 8, 2009

Patna: The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2008, rated as one of the world’s most demanding entrance examinations for any graduate institute, will be declared on January 9.

The CAT scores would be accessible by keying in the test registration number and either the date of birth or the CAT application number.

The CAT 2008 Results will be available through http://results.catiim.in.

CAT-2008 scores by SMS

CAT-takers can also access their CAT 2008 scores by using the SMS facility of mobile phones. For SMS, candidate can type ‘CAT test registration number date of birth (ddmmyy)’ or ‘CAT test registration number application number” for example: “CAT 5370082 030482″ or “CAT 5370082 123456″ and SMS to “57333″.

About 2.76 lakh aspirants across the country took the examination, conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on November 16, 2008.

CAT is the stepping stone for MBA aspirants to get admitted in reputed management schools of India.

Apart from the seven Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) located at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and Shillong, 118 non-IIMs accept the CAT scores.

The short-listed candidates will be called for group discussion followed by personal interview.

The entrance exam, designed to test a student’s managerial aptitude, saw an increase of 23 percent in the total number of applications this year and nearly 40 colleges added their names to the list of colleges that decide admissions on CAT scores.

With a 15 percent rise from last year’s 2.4 lakh and an acceptance offer to just one in 138 candidates this year against one in 120 last year, CAT 2008 promises to be bigger and better.

From the NCR region alone, more than 50,000 students appeared for the entrance exam.
