Mumbai CBSE topper is also a Bhojpuri folk singer

BlogCrawler - May 27, 2009

MUMBAI — Aditya Shankar, 15, has whipped up his own recipe for success. While his counterparts were studying 14 hours a day, Sharma, who scored 98.4% – second highest in the city – in the CBSE Std X exams, was cooking up his favourite dishes for his family.

“My mum and dad stay in Bihar, so I live with my three sisters here,” Aditya said. “During my exams, my eldest sister was away as she was taking part in the reality show Sarkar Ki Raj on the Real channel. So I took up the mantle of cooking for the family.”

Aditya’s sister Sumisha, says he is an expert in cooking Continental and Indian dishes. “He can whip up a finger-licking butter chicken and paratha in just 40 minutes,” she says.

Two years ago, Aditya was in Delhi with his eldest sister, who is a captain in the army. “My sister got transferred to Mumbai and I shifted along with her. I had made up my mind to score 98% and I studied for that. But unlike others, I did not get obsessive about my studies,” he said. Aditya regularly spent two hours a day surfing the Net and three hours watching TV. “I studied hard and played harder,” he said.

Overjoyed that he could achieve his target,” Aditya said: “I will bake a huge cake to celebrate my success with my sisters.”

A student of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malad, Aditya plans to seek admission at a local college.

“I’ll be preparing for my IIT entrance exams in the next two years,” he said. “I will apply at Sathaye College or Bhavan’s for junior college. I have also started my classes at IITian Pace to prepare for the entrance exam.”

An energetic teenager, Shankar is also a Bhojpuri folk singer: “My whole family is accomplished in music. I have studied Carnatic music, but my forte is Bhojpuri folk.”

Aditya and his family are, in fact, going on a tour of The Netherlands soon to perform Bhojpuri folk music.

jitendramani and shriman pandey

no doubt biharis are talented but they utterly lack motivation and means to produce ressult…..this is because of lack of leadership and absence of good politicians…..this results in fragmented and backward society ….as a result rich and educated people are getting all the benifits but the poor people have to suffer….this a very unfortunate situation…

shriman pandey and other maharastrians are good ,educated people who can realize the woos of unfortunate biharis….they shpuld have sympathy for these people and out of goodwill should help them in difficult time…..however they are free to condemn the bihari leaders who have created these problems…..

mr. Shriman Pande it will be better if u look after ur self. law and order situation is not good in MH(maharashtra). if any political party threaten to burn poster and threaten to stop screening of movies and goes away without any action on them from government then how it can be considered safe place.
when bunch of people who call themself sainik attack their own countryment (i am talking about India) then how could be that place be ideal or safe.

You c after vidhan sabha of Maharastra. I m very much sure this is only agenda MNS and Shiv Sena is having to collect vote. I am very sure nothing is going to change in Maharastra even if MNS or Shivsena wins, because they want to use this agenda to win vote only, they r not interested in improving anything.

Love wins always. Always remember .. hatred only give defeat. You can rule people only by winning their hearts.

the advise of bhardwaj to shalini is is very important and timely….

bihar is backward for two reasons…..there is demand of dowry from every parent of the sons….the more they are educated the more dowry is demanded…..this is very shameful situation in bihar…. biharis lose prestige on this ground as maximum crime against women take place in this state due to dowry

second problem with bihari is that they are rabidly casteist…..this creates bad blood in every village ,town and city…bihari society is greatly fragmented due to this factor and they are highly disorganised unlike the bengalis who have shed casteism and are most organised…this prevents inter caste marriage and dowry problems are getting worse day by day….the illgotten dowry money is unproductive as it is always squandered….that is why most of biharis are poor and they are looked down upon in othe state…..

let the biharis realize their mistake and reform then only they can raise fingers on maharastrians othewise they will always remain backward even having brain and glorious background

Shalini, Don’t marry a man who demands dowry. STOP DOWRY. Everything will improve in Bihar once you stop giving dowry. WHAT a shameful ACT. I consider the man who takes dowry as a coward. But, I like you for your comment. Be fearless. SAY NO TO DOWRY. SAY NO TO DADGIRI.Cheers.Have fun.

Dear Jatin, Stop talking like a fool. Bihar is backward because there is nothing to do. Years of extreme poverty, insecurity and bastardised politicians have ruined that state. Biharis have a problem of misplaced EGO. I agree. Mumbai has all the head-offices of all the banks(baring one or two)!!!! It has headoffices of Reliance,Tata,ACC,L&T….almost all the big comapnies. Hence all jobs are in Mumbai. There is nothing new about it. There are hardly any industry in Bihar. What you mean by advanced ‘people’. Marathis are no match to BIharis as far as scoring marks and solving problems are concerened. So ,stop, abusing others. I am a south inidn. I know we also have problems. We are so afraid of Brahmins intelligence that we have driven them out of our state!!.

dear santosh tiwari

please take the criticism of bihar by jatin patil and shriman pande with a pinch of salt…..

no doubt the present mindset of bihari politicians..,beaurocrats..,etc is deplorable…they do not think about the proper development of the biharis but of theirself and their own castemen…they are narrowminded…selfish people…the biggest proof of this is the 50 years of misrule of this state….they have virtually reduced the people of this state to slaves and beggars….for this we can not blame maharastrians and others…

a few biharis , only after getting education outside bihar might be commpeting for govt poists (just to demand huge amount of dowwery from hapless girl,s parents)….this has never benifited poor people….most of whom do not get even two times meals…

before reacting to the remarks of jatin patil and shriman pande we must try to correct ourselves….

Yes Bihar can never compete with a developed State like Maharastra,Punjab,Gujarat becuase Bihari people are fools and Bihar ministers are corrupt. And you people will never get any funds from Indian Central government for economic development, because Central govenmnet knows that Bihar is a State of foolish people , and no development is needed there.
And soon MNS will throw out all Biharis from Mumbai, and Bihar will collapse and die from poverty.
Jai Maharastra, Jai MNS

This is brilliant piece of news. We are coming to terms that Biharis are generally good in studies. Biharis are very talented and can be found in all walks of life.

Shalini August 7th, 2009 9:44 pm

Keep bragging about micro-achievements. Because big achievements are never gonna come to Bihar. You lack law and order. You lack respect to women. You lack caste-unconscious society. No hope. Have consultancy from Maharashtra for Navnirman by our Sainiks. Privatize Bihar Govt and give contract for 25 years to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Then we’ll make Bihar an ideal State as Maharashtra. Free of migration. Free of racial superiority complex. Free of Hindi-hegemony mindset. Free of atrocities against women. Free of crime. Free of feudalism. Think about it.
