Centre says no to varsity in Motihari

News Desk - December 31, 2009

NEW DELHI — Much awaited new Central University in Motihari is likely to miss the opportunity as the Centre is ready with its plan to bombard the project.

The Union Human Resource Ministry has conveyed that Motihari, the district headquarters of East Champaran district, is considered a backward region and lack physical infrastructure to host the proposed varsity. The ministry is learnt to have asked the Bihar government to come up with a fresh set of probable sites.

While the state government, various academics and development votaries have been arguing that the new institutes must be set up in relatively backward areas, as this will help in creation of new and additional infrastructure and boost economy, the Centre is not of the same view. The ministry has argued that the district, sharing borders with six Bihar districts and Nepal in north, has poor access and connectivity and lack infrastructure in the form of good schools, among other aspects, which are necessary to attract quality faculty.

The ministry feels that establishing an institute in remote and under-developed area can work against the institute as it will fail to attract quality faculty and students.

It Must be establish in Motihari, the reoson behind this
1.In motihari it will grow like a beutiful university because god has given very good natural environment to this place.
2.It is very good place for research and developement. Here wide veriety of folra and fauna easily available in the vicinity of Motihari.
3.Many historical places and places of archiologival interest.
4.This town is well connected by the meansof railways and roads from other part of country.
5.By establishing this university over here we can also assist the people of nepal.
6.Motihari it self a very nice place for tourism so it is able to provide nice entertainment for the student who will come here for study.

As far other places of bihar is concern for this position other than patna that is not better than this town in any aspect. So I request Mr.HRD Minister once to visit this place and its vicinity before taking any decesion to shift location of Central university from here to any other place.I hope, he will be influenced by this place enormously.

Central University must be there in Mothihari, if central government plans for more then it should go to other places. I always support development of new plans in underdeveloped of neglected region, as it increase economical and social conditions of those region.

Development of Bihar is surely not in agenda, for all those people who don’t want to see central university in Motihari, or people who want seperate state if central university not given to Motihari. I am from Patliputra, want to see first central university coming to my state. If it comes near me it will be better, but one central university is coming to Biahr it is more important for me.

Motihari needs many more colleges for development of the area , starting with the first Central university , kapil sibal should not be cunning , but instead he should help in Biahr development otherwise Motihari people will go on mass agitation all over India ,

I think nitish ji should do something regarding this.because he had promissed the people of motihari fot that university.actually it is result of politics.I think if there will be no university in motihari then it should be not in bihar because bihar is also backward area.and it should be in delhi so that kapil sibbal and many congress leader will get knowledge in that university. And also student will reach there easily.I think it who is kapil sibbal to decide that motihari is backward area.then what is the need for congress leader Rahul gabdhi to go to motihari for getting vote.
Left it those are the big people. But i think it is need of time that people of motihari means east champaran come forward and do all the possible for the motihari.
otherwise existance of motihari will be in trouble.the only person who is responsible for the worst condition of bihar is mr.Lalu yadav. He is the man responsible for this bad state of bihari’s.because of him most of the literate of motihari and bihar is outside the bihar and struggling for existance. It is my strong urge to Mr. nitish kumar do something for welfare of industries in bihar.otherwise days are not far away when there will be demand for seperate state like vidarbh and telangana.

Why in Motihari. What is the criteria of establishing a C.U. It requires a place where facilities, connectivities is there. Moreover, who will come in Motihari to teach. It is not going to be a university only for motihari people but for entire country.

Rajesh K.Pathak Reply:

Mr.Tiwari, Why not in Motihari ? Do you u want to take CU in UP which is decided and confirmed i motihari ? Who are u ? Why u said that educational profesional will hesistate to go to Motihari ? Have u seen Motihari ? Have u been there anytime ? People like u have spoilt the name of Bihar as you people do politics everytime whenever u see others are gaining in merit basis, u start your unwanted story. U should know that East Champaran has highest numbers of literate people in Bihar. This is place for Gandhi Ji and Mahatma Budhha, The Ramayan was written in Champaran only in Sanskrist by Balmiki Rishi. If this decided and confirmed Cu in Motihari not established, People of whole Champaran will leave no stone unturned. We will call agitation, we will call protest, we will run bigger scale of movement. Farmers have already offerred their lands to Government. People of Champaran are democratic, creative, reasonable and educated they know what to do at what time. Please try to know Champaran closely first then you should talk.

70% people of India lives in village, 90% scholars and scientists are born in village and small towns all over the world. Heart of India lives in village. How can temple of knowledge and education not live in small town ? East Champaran is not a remote place, this is the districts which has largest numbers of educated people in Bihar. This district is place of Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Buddha. This district is connected to main Highway & broad gauge Railways lines. This district has most civilized people in Bihar. It is not taken care by central and state government that is why people can talk from outside whatever then can talk. Plan for Central University is really good and once it is established here, the total region will develop automatically, many other technical institutes and professional institutes will be establishedwhich will in the long run be boon not only for the local but all the people of Bihar, India and the world. If it is not established so, people of Champaran will not forgive the state and central government forever.

I think central government should established this university in Vaishali(hajipur) district. It has all the infrastructure is ready and well connectivity with other district by rail or road.Apart from this it is near to state Capital and patna airport. One more reason that we don’t have any university also.

Big universities campuses are some what complete in themselfs.. with residential, schooling, shops, security and other facilities. There are many examples.

East-west corridor would pass very close to Motihari. It is also closer to Muzaffarpur and well connected by road.

East Champaran was a strategic place and busniess hub throughout history , It lacks infrastructure and resources due to Center’s injustice like rest of Bihar does . By opening a Central University in Motihari will lead to business development and it will bring Motihari on world news.
Instead of neglecting East Champaran , Govt should help to boost ots growth , and the regions people are very active and industrious with proper facilities they will surely developed the place for good
Jai Bihar !! Jai MotiHari !!

If Aligarh Muslim University can come up in Kishanganj then what stops government to open a central university in Motihari which has much much better infrastructure. While all other places are either drought-affected or flood-hit Motihari does not see such disasters.

A peice of advise to those who are counting Magadh’s past glory in all discussions should stop living in the past, be pragmatic and move forward.

Hi all: Read thru some of very strong comments about the alternate sites. Somehow, I feel that we need to restrain ourselves from this. Question is what can be done to make sure that the decision taken by the State govt be respected in totality. That’s what a team game is all about. Instead of proposing alternative sites, we shall propose what needs to be done in Motihari that it attracts Central Govt decision back to the same place. lets be creative enough to shoot tru the wall rather than being inside the 4 walls always. I really don’t intend to be sarcastic but not sure if some of the above comments made above are constructive or antagonistic in nature…intentiionally or un-intentionally!!!!! regards

In my opinion, Central University can be opened in Chapra. Chapra is well connected by rail from all important places. Chapra is well connected by State Capital Patna also by good road. Jai Prakash University is already functioning here. Government Engineering College will also start functioning from next year.

biharis are backward in all respects because they take biased views even in case of important matters…..

central university requires certain basic infrastructures which can not be had at champaran for years together ,viewing the pace of developments in this state….

it was basically a wrong decision to locate this kind of university in that area where proper facilities are not available….the wrong decision will again delay the establishment of important institution resulting in suffering of bihari students….

champaran can have projects like agrobased industris etc for fast development…..

it is wrong to say that gaya region is getting more funds for development…in fact all the money and resources are being taken away by north bihar because all the influencial leaders come from that region….there is no strong leader from gaya region ,hence it gets raw deal…

whatever progress is here –is because of it has national and international importance being a budhist centre and hindu shradh centre…..

i am not from gaya and if any body thinnk without bias about progress of bihar , ,he will surely say that gaya deserves a central university as it is not only international place but well connected by roads ,rails and air….it is going to have world class station also very soon

gaya is the best place for locating a central university…..

dear all,
bihar now is under worst of its time.biharis are abused, shunted, disrespected.all this has happened because we blame others.i would like to suggest a saying”god helps those who help themselves”.i beleive it is only we who can turn bihar.we have vast potential of biharis outside bihar, make a organisation on the lines of NRI.bring all NRB’S(if i can say that)under one roof and invest in bihar,we will need nobody.by bringing NRB’S together we will have everone from labourer, engineer, doctor, teacher, mba etc to the money we need desperstely for bihar.i suggest we make a biharis business organisation.today respect comes with money, get the money to bihar respect will follow.

Dear Sir,

Munger should also be for considered for opening the University at Munger.

Munger has Yoga university which attracts even students from abroad.

Munger is located near to jamalpur ,one of the oldest Industrial townships in India, and also near to Bhagalpur.

Lately due to political apathy Munger has not seen much of development but a national level University can certainly boost the city.

No surprises. This could be a ploy by Congress party to get NDA defeated in next elections. All constituencies in Champaran are held by BJP. NDA will be wiped out in Assembly election as people are already complaining against continuing neglect and rampant corruptions. 80% of development funds are in and around Patna, Nalanda and Gaya. Champaran has been long neglected by one and all due to people’s innocence to give the post of chief minister to others. Every region has got a chief minister. This time chief minister should be from Champaran.

Biasd comments below shows how people do not want equal development of all regions. If this is the mindset then this is time is to support reorganisation of states. People of Mithila are justified in demand. I urge Prakash Jha to invest in and around Champaran only. Gyanesh Pandey of Husk Power Systems has zero support from Bihar government. Gyanesh ji should confine its project to Champaran only. Kunwar Sanjeev Singh should shift base to Champaran and setup his IT operations here. Ajit Singh should give up the idea of establishing his garment export unit in Sitamarhi and Patna. I’ll arrange land and manpower for you. Please setup your unit in Motihari. Champaran and Mithila would flourish without Patna as capital.

Kunwar Sanjeev Singh Reply:

Dearest MP don’t lose your heart so soon…. Instead of overreacting you must convince people about the need of the CUB…. Everyone is entitled to an opinion…. You must convince rather than confront people here… I’m sure you are a capable man to do that….

Well, I’m actually contemplating to leave Patna as I’ve failed to find a good accommodation here in last 1 year.

Take care…. Keep smiling….

It is very sorry to see these things happening in today’s world, when everybody is talking about having human settlement on moon! When we can think about going that far from earth, why we find a place not too far from big cities of India not suitable for a central university?

Champaran best known for Champaran Satyagraha was the Karma Bhoomi of Mahatma Gandhi. He started his first Satyagraha in India to free the peasants crushed by the British Indigo Planters and also set up a ‘Buniyadi Vidyalaya’. Even Gandhiji mentioned once – “The Champaran episode was a turning point of my life”. One of the success story of Indian freedom struggle was written here. After so many years, Champaran has been declared as not fit for Central University, only because it is less known place with very less resouces.

It is the real difference in the eyes of our leaders and planners of country today. During freedom struggle our leaders were fighting to bring prosparity at the remotest part of India, now they want to see it just few pockets of the country.

My only request to all readers here on jaibihar.com is that you should not swept away in emotion. It is our state which will suffer more if we start about exclusive development than inclusive development. Even when you talk about Patna, Gaya and Nalanda they are really way behind when it comes to real development and lot to be needed to done there as well. But, we should not fight for development in my area rather we should fight for development in my state. As you can taste fruit of development more closely if it happens in any of the cities of Bihar than only metro cities.

for a central university ,the location should be such that it inspires the students….the place may be in a relatively backward area but it should be connected by road ,rail and air properly where students and teachers can come from all over india and even from abroad

above criteria can be had only at gaya or bodh gaya….

also as gaya has no great institution of learning and has been neglected in the past in many ways , hence bihar govt should establish the central university at gaya or bodh gaya only….
