Champaran Mahotsav postponed
MOTIHARI / PATNA – The State government has postponed the Champaran Mahotsava, which was scheduled to begin at Motihari on Friday.
The function, held every year, has been deferred, as the cine actor and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Hema Malini is preoccupied with election campaign in New Delhi.
Hema was to lead a 35 member team of artistes for the function. Besidef, ghazal singer Ahmad Hussain, santoor player Shruti Adhikari, flute player Chetan Doshi and kathak dancer Prerna Shrimali were also to perform during the three day cultural extravaganza.
Hema’s participation in the Vasant Mahotsava, beginning March 27 at Patna, has also become uncertain because the Rashtriya Janata Dal state president Abdul Bari Sidiqqui has urged the election commission to immediately ban such programme and take suitable action against officers violating model code of conduct.
