Court awards death to 3
HAJIPUR — A local court today awarded death sentence to three persons for burning to death a woman, her two daughters and three sons over a property dispute in Vaishali district nearly four years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Upendra Bhushan Mishra found the trio guilty of burning to death Baby Devi, wife of Vijendra Mahto, their two daughters and three sons at Rampur Shyamchand area on December 31, 2005 over a property dispute.
The three, who were neighbours of the victims, sprinkled petrol all over their house when they were asleep and then lighted it, resulting in the death of six members of the family.
The three convicts sentenced to death were identified as Dipak Rai, Jagat Rai and Bacha Babu Rai.
Nine others, named in the case, were still evading arrest.
