PATNA — Holding Magadh University VC B N Pandey guilty of contempt of court the Patna High Court has suggested the chancellor for appropriate action against Pandey.
The court found Pandey guilty of filing a false affidavit feigning illness and misleading the court.
Earlier, the VC was directed by the high court to remain physically present in the court on September 3, 2008, in connection with a case. However, an application for exemption from personal appearance was filed in the court on Pandey’s behalf seeking exemption on ground of illness.
On the same day, he participated at a public function held at Gaya College in Gaya, which was well documented by the electronic media.
Pandey is also facing criminal charges under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 472, 504 and 506 of the IPC and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
