Court summons finance secretary for ‘contempt’
PATNA — The Patna High Court on Thursday observed why it should not initiate a proceeding against Bihar finance secretary and punish him for the contempt of court.
A single bench presided over by Justice N P Singh made this observation while hearing a petition filed by Yogendra Prasad Singh, an employee of state’s road construction department (RCD).
Singh had earlier filed a petition in the court against denial of promotion to him. Though the court had then ruled in his favour, the order was not implemented and Singh again moved the court.
During the hearing of the petition, RCD secretary informed the court that a proposal recommending promotion to Singh was sent to the finance department on October 26 this year. A reminder was also sent on November 18. But the proposal is still pending.
The court fixed December 16 as the next date of hearing of the case.
