Four held for supplying illegal arms

PURNEA — Four persons allegedly involved in supplying sophisticated weapons to criminals were today arrested from Purnea district, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a place under Sadar police station here and arrested Harendra Poddar and his associates Chander Poddar, Mohammed Salim and Mohammed Guljar, Superintendent of Police N H Khan said.
One carbine, a revolver, two pistols and several rounds of ammunition were seized from them, he said.
The four were allegedly involved in supplying arms to criminal gangs in Bihar and neighbouring states of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, the officer added.
