Bihar’s two premium educational institutions — Indian Institute of Technology – Patna and the National Institute of Technology, also in the capital city, managed to rank among the top 150 engineering institutes in the country.
The ranking was published by the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF).
While IIT-Patna ranked 22nd with a score of 54.86 out of 100, in the engineering category, NIT ranked 134.
PK Jha, director, NIT, said the institute improved its ranking from 182 through the performances of its students.
Top Engineering institutes
IIT-Madras has been ranked as the top institute in the overall category, followed by IISc in the second position.
Barring IISc in the second spot, the IITs dominated the top ten slots in the overall category. While IIT Delhi was ranked third, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur followed in the fourth, fifth and sixth position. IIT-Roorkee got the eight position while IIT-Guwahati ranked ninth. JNU and BHU also found the place in the list at seventh and tenth positions respectively.
Top Management institutes
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore secured the top spot in the management college ranking followed by IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta. IIM Lucknow and Indore stood at fourth and fifth ranks.
Top Medical colleges
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, followed by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore were ranked as the top three medical colleges.
Top Law colleges
National Law School of Indian in Bengaluru grabbed the top spot under the law category
Top Architecture colleges
Indian Institute of Technology was ranked first in the Architecture category.
Among the list of the top ten colleges, Delhi University’s Miranda House got the first rank followed by Hindu College. Chennai’s Presidency College and St.Stephen’s College secured third and fourth position respectively.
Top Pharmacy colleges
New Delhi’s Jamla Hamdard was ranked first in the Pharmacy category, while Panjab University in Chandigarh was ranked second.
