IOC’s superior-grade Barauni refinery to be ready by March

News Desk - December 14, 2009

NEW DELHI — As India gears up to introduce Euro III and Euro IV-compliant fuel from April 1, 2010, government owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) will have almost all its major plants start producing superior-grade petrol from April 1, 2010..

BN Bankapur of IOC said the petrol projects are delayed in Guwahati, Digboi and Barauni. At Bongaigaon, both petrol and diesel projects are delayed.

Better-grade petrol producing units at Barauni refinery in Bihar will be ready by end-March, but commissioning will take three months, he said.

He said project at IOC’s Digboi and Guwahati plants in the northeast would be completed by April and commissioned by June.

Refineries in Panipat (240,000 barrels per day) and Mathura refineries (160,000 bpd) in northern India are ready to produce cleaner fuel, while the Koyali plant (274,000 bpd) in western Gujarat state and Haldia refinery (120,000 bpd) in Bengal should be ready by April.
