Kidnapped Kankarbagh boy found dead

News Desk - May 30, 2009

PATNA – The city police today recovered the body of 9-year old Satyam Kumar who was kidnapped for Rs 50 lakh ransom and arrested two 14 year old boys in this connection.

Patna SSP R Malar Vizhi in a press conference said the kidnappers behind the gruesome crime, identified as Avinash and Khursheed, both 14 years old,  confessed to be inspired by Prakash Jha’s bollywood film Apaharan.

Avinash, a IX class student of DAV Khagaul, happened to be Satyam’s neighbour and his father, Dev Krishna, runs a grocery shop ‘Avinash Kirana Store” near Satyam’s home. Avinash had planned the abduction a month back with friend Khursheed alias Monu, a school dropout and son of Mohammed Shameem. Both the boys had even hired a separate room to execute the plan. Satyam was taken to this rented room after he was kidnapped and killed when he tried to make noise.

The boy was apparently strangulated though the exact cause of death will be known only after post-mortem, the police said.

Satyam’s body was recovered from a house in adjoining Ashok Nagar on Saturday morning on the basis of the confessional statement of the two suspects.

According to the SSP, the two boys allegedly behind the abduction and murder, confessed to be inspired by Prakash Jha’s bollywood film Apaharan.

Satyam, a class IV student of Doon School in Kankarbagh locality,  went missing from his residence two days ago.

Satyam’s father Rajesh Kumar Singh (resident of A-88, PC colony) said he had received a ransom call around 8.45 pm Thursday, following which he went to Kankarbagh police station to lodge a complaint about kidnapping of his son to police.

However, Kankarbagh police Station House Officer, Giridhar Pandey, turned him away, Singh alleged.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Pankaj Kumar said a complaint was lodged with Kankarbagh police station on the basis of the statement of Satyam’s father. However, he remained mute on the delayed action by police.

The DSP said an enquiry has been instituted against SHO Giridhar Pandey and that he remains suspended with immediate effect.

Rajesh Kumar, who originally hails from Samastipur district, deals in inverters and his shop is located on Exhibition Road.  Relatives say Rajesh was not financially capable to meet abductor’s demand.

As the news of the death after abduction spread, hundreds of residents of the town gheraoed Kankarbagh police station. Incensed over the death, hundreds of agitators burnt tyres, blocked the road, ransacked Avinash’s shop and protested against the administration.

The murder has sent shock waves across the city reminding people of Lalu era of extortions, crime and kidnappings.

i am sure this is not a handiwork of two small children, there must be some bigger gang behind this murder.how a child can demand 50 lakhs rupees. this huge demand can be made only by some planned conspiracy. these two children are just the scapegoats. the role of police is also suspicious . it not only refused to register the FIR , but also must have informed the real gang about the intentions of the father of the victim. since in patna there are many bigtime gangs operating kidnapping as business , a collusion of police can’t be ruled out.these two children caught have been taught to give vague statements to waylaid the police. it is also a lesson for other parents not to leave their child alone in patna and in case of kidnappings not to go to small officers in police but report straight to senior police officials , evryone should have phone nos. of atleast two senior police officers of the rank of IPS and two- three important social worker in the locality. in the present time no one is safe anywhere , so one has to take extreme precaution oneself first and depend on others lateron.phone nos. and detail can be taken from http://www.bihar.com

The DGP of Bihar should come out and take the onus of this incident. He should take a note of this issue and address the people of Bihar & assure corrective actions as well as nabbing the culprits & punish them.

Mr. CM should also come out address the people of bihar on this tragic incident.

Are we heading towards the same old Bihar with Kidnappings & Killings being a part of daily life here?
