Marathi eunuchs attack Azmi for taking oath in Hindi

News Desk - November 9, 2009

BOMBAY — Maharashtra Napunsak Sena (MNS) members on Monday attacked state Samajwadi Party chief Abu Azmi inside the legislature after he insisted on taking his oath as a legislator in Hindi.

The day’s proceedings started smoothly with several members taking oath, wary of a so-called ‘open letter’ by MNS chief Raj Thackeray, whose ancestry some say is derived from a British man and his Indian concubine, urging all 288 legislators to take their oath in Marathi.

However, Azmi, who hails from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, had declared that he would not be intimidated by such threats by “extra-constitutional authorities” and announced that he would take the oath in the national language Hindi.

When his turn came, the brave man got up to take the oath in Hindi. Even as he uttered the first few words, MNS members, all of them first-timers in the House, sprang up from their seats, shouted slogans and rushed towards Azmi.

As Azmi continued to take the oath in Hindi, MNS’s Ramesh Banjle uprooted the microphone and threw it away. Unable to muster courage to have a one-to-one fight, several MNS eunuchs came and surrounded Azmi, pushed and punched him and one member Ram Kadam was seen on live television slapping and hitting him on the chest and shoulders.

MNS eunuchs also pushed PWP leader Meenakshi Patil in the house.

The Protem Speaker Ganpatrao Deshmukh immediately adjourned the House for over half an hour.

However, the MNS members continued indulging in sloganeering, displaying banners and damaging the fittings inside the assembly.

Maharashtra chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Chavan, who was present when the MNS members created the ruckus, termed the incident as “regretful” and urged that the legislators should be dealt with very strictly.

A Congress member, Baba Siddiqui, took the oath in English. Speaking to mediapersons later, Siddiqui, defending his decision to take the oath in English, said the MNS did not object to it since Thackeray’s sons study in English-medium schools.

Raj Thackeray has no identity as an individual so he is just trying to go for cheap publicity among some uneducated Marathi after paying them some amount of money. None of educated Marathis is supporting him rather treat him as mad dog, who is looser, can’t do anything except some cheap comments on some great heroes of India like Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh uncle. He has no relation with morality, ethics and humanity.
He is not the supporter of Maharashtra or Marathis. His son studies in English medium school and he talks about the prestige of Marathi language!
Raj Thackeray, tu hijara hai. Kabhi Maharashtra se bahar aake esse comment diya kar or move freely without your bastards paid servants, then you will get what you deserve.
We never chased out Maharastrian from Delhi, UP and Haryana, etc, because unlike you, we are civilised and noe what humanity is. I feel Pity on you and your entire family, on you because couldn’t get any seat also thing after getting many abuses from all Indian included Maharashtrian and your family because they are staying with such a bastard like you…. POOR U !!

Raj Thackeray , Bal thackeray and his supporters should be given a life ban and and MNS should be declared as a banned party by Supreme court of India . People should stop doing business in Bombay , and head to North Indian cities like Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi , Patna, gaya , and every communities should cut-off ties with Mumbai (Bombay).

Mahatma Gandhi always maintained that it’s the way the determines the result. I am a Bihari journalist based in Delhi and I get really peeved with repeated attacks–physical and otherwise–on Biharis in different part of country. Having said that, as a News portal, it is neither advisable nor desirabel to use this kind of language as has been used in this article. This is not a journalistic language, not at least of the English Print Media. Also, it would be better if we report incident remaining detached from it, i.e. we must not get sentimental while reporting. It is for the readers to vent anger, not a journalist.
I was very impressed with this site that it really bring in all the news related to the state to a common forum which is so useful for us Biharis. However, the language used in this article will dent its image. So, keep up the good work but use journalistic language. And yes, detach yourself from the news. Act as a medium not as a messenger.

Yup… we’re biased. That’s why the name – Jai Bihar.

When Rajdeep Sardesai of CNN-IBN puts the question – “Is Maharashtra going to be next Bihar?” what does he mean? Isn’t he putting his own emotions in the news? I did not find any IBN journalist, and even you Mr Shahi, protesting such irrelevant analogies.

We are not, and do not even intend to be, part of the mainstream media. We’ve clearly stated on our “About Us” page. – “As an alternative media source we vouch to provide you with a different (mostly dissident) viewpoint than that provided by major mainstream and funded newspapers, magazines, TV, and other media sources.

I dont understand what was wrong in the article. Whatever happened inside the assembly, demands to be condemned in the harshest possible way, with strongest possible use of words to save the democracy. If media fails in doing so, a new breed of Heros will be created, heros – who take the street fight attitude inside the assembly/parliament.

So far as carrying emotions in articles are concerned- I think most of the pre independence journalism was guilty of it then. We should not forget the role of articles, songs , poems and what not, full with emotions, judgements, and pride were published across the country to evoke the same amongst the masses.

I would not mind at all if Jai Bihar fails to attain the supreme milestone of being a pure medium but succesfully becomes the harbinger of Renaissance for USB people-

Would like to quote Ramdhari Singh Dinker’s lines

As far as I know, they didn’t object taking Oath in “English” and probably one MLA had taken the Oath in english after/before that event. So, their only objection seems to be to Hindi.
This guy, Raj and Mayawati seems to be having same class of brain I feel! Both would do anything for their self benefit without caring for anything (Law and Order, ethics, good or bad, etc.)
They give example of Tamil Nadu but, in Tamil Nadu, it is lot better now and its getting better and better!

Dhruv Singh Reply:

i wish they had brains , Alok, I really wish they had brains.. the void left due to lack of brain is filled with desires of power, fame , money .. and its causing havoc.. they are equivalent to national clamities.. and it wont be an exaggerated attempt if we do Mahayaga to get rid of them

The same group of mother fuckers ghati marathis send their sons and daughter to english christian school. A report in Indian Express’ revealed that the children of eight of the MNS’s 13 MLAs attend English-medium schools.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit passed out of Mumbai’s exclusive Bombay Scottish school last year, and that he chose to study a foreign language instead of Marathi while he was there.

Raj’s daughter Urvashi is currently a student of the same school.

• Mayuresh, son of Khadakwasla MLA Ramesh Wanjale — who shoved aside the lectern which Azmi wanted to use to take oath, and is one of the four MLAs suspended for four years — studies in Class 5 in Springdale High School in Sinhagad. Wanjale’s elder daughter Sayali is in Class 11 in Pune’s Sinhagad College, studying in English medium, although her schooling was in the Marathi medium. Younger daughter Disha is in Huzurpaga High School and studies in Marathi medium.

• Aides of Ghatkopar-West MLA Ram Kadam said Kadam’s son Om goes to a convent school in Mumbai’s Bandra. Kadam refused to discuss his family, saying it was a “personal” issue.

• Former Shiv Sainik and MNS leader in the Assembly Bala Nandgaonkar’s daughter Srushti is a student of Class 3 in the English-medium Arya Vidyamandir in Bandra.

“The issue here is the implementation of Marathi as the official language in the government’s administrative work,” said Nandgaonkar, MLA from Sewree and one of the first senior Sena men to join Raj. “Marathi is the only language recognised for administrative work in Maharashtra. We have no opposition to languages as such.”

• MNS spokesman and MLA from Mahim, Nitin Sardesai’s son Yash is a B.Com. student at Mumbai’s R A Podar College. He attended King George’s High School in Dadar and studied in English medium.

“It is an English medium school but Marathi was taught as a subject and the atmosphere there is also Marathi,” Sardesai said, referring to the school.

• Nashik-West MLA Nitin Bhosale’s son Pruthvish is in Class 2 in the English-medium Fravashi International Academy, an elite school which was inaugurated by Raj Thackeray in 2002.

“We are not against English language but are emphasising the use of Marathi since it is the mother tongue. Although my son is studying in English medium, he studies Marathi as a subject,” Bhosale said.

• Kalyan-Rural MLA Ramesh Patil’s older son Vicky is doing an MBA in Dubai, while his younger son Vaibhav is in Class 6 at St Teresa’s in Dombivili.

• Vikhroli MLA Mangesh Sangle’s three-and-a-half year-old son Himanshu goes to an English playschool in Airoli in Mumbai.

• Kannad (Aurangabad) MLA Harshwardhan Jadhav’s son Adityawardhan goes to Toddlers English School in Aurangabad.

Also we just can’t be cheap and mean like those people ,as change of name is done for convince of people of their state we should leave this small issues, rather should protest on larger scale or simply ignoring those country burgers who are doing all this to be in lime light.

Dear All,

Let the centre and supreme court take appropriate actions against the leaders and ask them to refrain from such fearsome play.I fear the back lash of all these just the innocent will pay price these cowards will take shelter.

Mr Deepak, as you are very much concerned about the language used in the article, why dont you lend the same piece of advice to Marathi Manoos Raj thackeray also, if you can.
Dont blame about bihari culture, still we are scolding in blogs only, has it been other parts of India, you could have seen a full separatist movement being launched against the Indian Tyranny.
If you cannot support the frustration of Biharis then please dont comment on it, now the days are changed and things are getting much serious.

“Maharashtra Naalaayak Samaj” would define them better I think! Everybody in this party seems to be having some “Gunda” background. They seem to be serving the party on rent and acting to be blind followers of Raj “Thakur”(Old Bad Thakurs, with, without Moochh modern approach).
Seems to be a party without any ethics! A party which has proper plan ready to play with “Maaratha Manus” emotion! It seems to be a party of all “nikkammas”, “naalaayaks”, “uchhakkas”, and unsuccessful, frustrated people of Maharashtra whose party chief is just making fool of his own party men!

They don’t have much supporters! I think its a small percentage of the entire population in Maharashtra which belongs to the same group as the party. And also, they have been able to somhow successfully play with the emotion of those people there. Soon they will also, open their eyes and would find the reality I suppose.

This is shame on democratic independent country. Raj Thackery is using and implementing his ideas/dramas and central govermnet is silence instead of doing some necessary action. How they can silence. Ahhh this is not first time that Thackery members take this bullshit action to non mrathi language. He can do only these thing in maharastra, If he will come out to other state for anything,I am dam sure he cannot go alive to maharastra. This is really nonsense and reducullus. How he can stop any body to speak our “RASTRA BHASA”. He is trying to partiate not only maratha but INDIA also. If I had a power in state or central I hang him that basted. “RAJ THACKERY MURDABAD”…………………………

It is the duty of central Govt. to protect our national language Hindi and constitution of the country. There are enough reasons to put MNS people including Raj Thakre behind the bar. It all depends on UPA Govt. in the centre.Suspension of MNS MLAs is not sufficient in this case. The party should be banned and provision should be made for these goons not to contest election even as an independent candidate in future.

I had a lot of respect for Rahul and Sonia because I thought these guys were different from corrupt and mentally sick other Gandhi family members, but now I believe all are same and they can sell their mothers for the sake of their own greed. It looks India is a barbaric society and still living in stone age rather stone age was better.

The government is not all responsible and this is because most of the Indians are coward and lechers and they love to keep their heads in sand and hope that someone else will do the job or most probably God will incarnate and clean the society.
Think Koda case, he has laundered thousands of crores but still was been treated in Apollo and was not being arrested because his stomach was upset. This can happen only in Indai because -Mera Bharat Mahan

The language used in this article is absolutely wrong. I request moderator to correct wording.
By using these type of word, actually you harming Bihari Culture. By using these type of word, we are saying to world, that we express our frustration in this manner, this is not good for us. After all they are MLAs, they are representative of people, you can not abuse people. How can we abuse people in this manner, Hindi and English are very reach and matured languages, there are a number of word, which can be use to slam those people. But certainly should not use by portal like http://www.jaibihar.com, which we recommend other people check this site for Bihari’s view and Bihari culture. I didn’t read full article(and don’t want to read whole article), only read first line and few middle like, this article seems to be written by a child in a childish manner.

JaiBihar should be a gateway to serious discussion not like this. again i request moderator to change wording.

This is unbelievable that an elcted representative has been slapped in the highest seat of order in a State, the act will send higly demoralising signal to the masses if not dealt with sternaly. I have read numerous blogs where the youth of maharashtra .. the educated youth supports MNS.. I am forced to believe .. the society is selfish and coward.. as they say . .. sauu sonar ki ek lohaar ki.. god forbid .. but if there is a backlash against marathi speakers .. it will be the one to be remembered for centuries across several generations..today the insult being inflicted on hindi speakers and Biharis in particular is accumulating in the collective psyce of the Bihari people.. this will induce a spring action if not today, tomorrow or some day.. stich in time would save nine.. is my advice to the marathi manoos.. learn from what happened in Delhi.. in 1984.. the retaliation was not just orchestraed by the some leaders .. but it took greater mob fury because of the fact that there was a sense of opression comming from sikh youths in day to day life of others which was given a way out by few.. since the it has become a permanent blot on secular credentials of india.. but by and large Sikhs have been loved by others and we all have been appriciative of thier qualities.. the same is not true with marathi manoos.. they are a seggregated lot.. only mainstream names comes into mind is from political arena , business and cricket..but not in our day to day dealings.. they may have to pay heavily later…

This country is heading towards a big Civil War, if these type of nonsense is not tackled at this stage.
What else can be expected from MNS, and the CM who is describing this just as a regretful incident should realise that bahubali expreiment which is doing in Maharashtra will never pay off.
Today you have started with slapping and mike throwing, those who play with fire they should also be ready for the burns which will be incured. But the biggest issue, what our central govt and supreme court is doing, does this doesnt call for emergency.
What is the criterion for emergency in our country, if some states decide that we will hoist our own national flag instead of Tiranga, will not pay taxes since it goes for other states, will not belive in bureaucracy and legislation because no other state people can rule us. Why should we go for Indian currency with Mahatma on it, give me the currency of my state. All these question will and then it will be a total mess.
Capital punishment is given to a murderer, the idea behind this is not to let him rectify his guilt(because there is no life after death) but rather capital punishment is given to set an example that there is rule of law and nobody is above that.
So instead of condemning and critising the Maharashtra govt, the ball is now in court of centre and supreme court.
They should must act otherwise our whole nation and parliament system will look like a comedy circus.
