ERODE (TAMIL NADU) – In a shocking incident, a 21 year old youth from Motihari in Bihar, Nitish Kumar, was murdered and his body was chopped into pieces and stuffed in gunny bags here on Wednesday.
The accused – Naveen Kumar Patel (21) of Hajipur in Vaishali district of Bihar and his wife Sasikala (22) of Gowdedi in Karnataka, were working at a bleaching factory in Tamil Nadu.
When Naveen Patel went to his home town recently, he and his wife met and befriended Nitish of Kalyanpur village of East Champaran (Motihari) district in Bihar in returning train journey. Nitish worked at a mineral water company at Vedasandur in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu.
After his return to Erode, Naveen Patel asked Nitish to join a job here for better remuneration.
When gullible Nitish arrived at Erode, the couple and their friend Rahul Datta (22) of Assam demanded ₹1 lakh from him and confined him to a house.
Nitish’s mother complained to the Dindigul police stating that she had not heard from her son since the day he’d left for Erode to meet Navin Patel.
Later, she received a call demanding ransom for the release of her son. Acting on the complaint, police arrived at Erode and with the help of cyber crime police tracked his mobile phone and went to Navin Patel’s house where they noticed blood stains.
A special police team raided the house and questioned the couple who admitted to have demanded a ransom of ₹1 lakh from Nitish Kumar’s mother, the police said.
The police found bags with chopped body pieces that were later sent to District Headquarters hospital. The police registered a case and arrested the couple and friend.
