PATNA — On the occasion of completion of four years in power Tuesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asserted that Bihar is poised to be one of the leading states in India.
“Our state is poised to be counted as one of the leading states in the country. The central government and other state governments have not only applauded some of the innovative schemes started by us, but have adopted them as well,” Nitish said.
He was releasing a report card here on his government’s performance during its four years in office.
In the report card, Nitish said Bihar which was known for its backwardness till recently, has been honored and conferred with the first prize for e-governance. He said Patna was given the second place after Delhi for initiating commerce and business activities by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
“We have completed four years of development with justice that impressed people outside also. Law and order situation has improved immeasurably. Fear and insecurity have been banished from the hearts of the people,” Nitish said in his 60-page report card.
The chief minister claimed: “Till recently, our state was dependent on central government projects. The state had neither a vision nor schemes of its own for development of Bihar. But now the situation has changed, we are implementing more than 30 schemes on the strength of our own resources.”
On the recent controversy over the land reforms and political hullabaloo over it, Nitish said that the recommendations were more idealistic than practical in nature. “Let me assure people today, that no one is going to lose his land. We are yet to examine the practical aspects of the Bandopadhyay panel’s suggestions,” he said.
He said his government has endeavored to accelerate the pace of development in Bihar. “Because of the efforts of the government, the cooperation and the grit of the Bihari people, we have attained a stature today.”
Kumar candidly admitted rampant corruption to be one of his main failings.
Giving a thumbs up to the duo – CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP state chief Radha Mohan Singh said the NDA rule in Bihar not only changed the face of the state but had also brought it on the developmental map of the country.
Recalling the “bad days” under Lalu-Rabri rule, Singh said that earlier the official chambers of the CM and ministers used to remain empty and full of dusts and cobwebs, but at present both CM and deputy CM have been running the government from their state secretariat chambers.
Thanks to enhanced business activities in the state, there is an increase of 96 per cent of corporate tax to the Central pool, the MP from East Champaran said adding the ASSOCHAM has described the state as being most suitable for making investment.
Nitish hinted that he will consolidate the development projects launched by his government so far in next seven months and concentrate on state Assembly elections during the remaining five months.
Charging the JD(U)-BJP government with “failing on all fronts,” the opposition RJD and LJP demanded resignation of chief minister for failing to fulfill the promise of “good governance and development.” The LJP led by Ramvilas Paswan went to the extent of demanding Centre’s intervention to dismiss the present NDA government for “failing to deliver on its promises of good governance and playing a cruel joke on the aspirations of the people of Bihar”.

What kind of activities are carried out to develop religious sites like ‘Kesariya Stupa’ and its surrounding areas ? Are all the roads connecting to this sites are made proper and wider ? Is electric power supply made available 24hrs to this area ? Is drinking water supply is made available 24 hrs ? Is public sanitation made available to this areas which can be used by tourists and local public ? Is transportaion system made available to this area by Government at least whole day ? Are good guest houses/rooms made available to this place by government ? Is any good hospital made available by Government ? What kind of budhist programmes/fairs are run yearly to make this area famous ? Can we create better infrastructure in association with foreigners to develop this whole area ? I suggest state Government to focus on this area with bigger plan.
after coming of nitish kumar, there is lot of development work is going on , so we biharis must be unite by heart to develop our state.
Dear all,
The development during Mr. Nitish kumar tenure is visible in various areas so he needs to be appreciated for his effort.
However the condition of availability of electricity in most part of the state is very bad.
Nobody is sure as to when the bihar will be completely electrified and the usage of electricity will match the national average which is a big impediment in the development of bihar.
We expect an special effort by the nitish government for expediting the generation/availability of electricity in bihar.
Further the grameen vidutikaran yojna also needs to be implemented effectively and expeditiously.
If centre in not supporting than launch a mass movement.Everybody will give support for the availability of electricity.

Hats off to mr. nitish and his efforts, made to make bihar once again stand on path of development ,the future is very bright for our state and we biharis should give one more chance to mr nitish so that what ever foundation he has laid he can work and get results out of it , it would be end of development for us if lalu returns to power ,the little hope of coming back to development track would also die .
recent proposal taken by mahamahim mr nitish kumar to handover the public distribution system to primary agriculture cooperatie socities is not a good decision because these type of action will deprive the 45000 workers and their livlihood.i am not opposing nitish kumar view about rampant corruption in public distribution system after all effort made by concerned department to improve the situation.but i want toask question to CM ‘what will be happen to 45000 people who became unemployed.i want to remind that tamilnadu govt is taking several to free from corruption and bringing different types of schemes under one roof like postal ticket, pulses will be sell by these shops and that will increase their income.and percentage your govt is providind them is not enough now.their demand of increase in percentage and behave them as a regular employees is valid and must be taken into your consideration.but you are trying to handover it to PACs is totally wrong because this facility will go to those people who have been elected through election procedure after spending lot of money according what i have seen and after all it is doubtable that they will be keep up janta’s promises.instead of doing this thing you should bring a proper system to improve the quality of PDS shop.but Mr nitish kumar it seems that you are going on the path of chandra babu naidu ex CM of andhra pradesh who was also media friendly person and in the hype and hoopla of development forget the basis need of people like roti, kapda aur makan and as we know that these are essential things in human life.how can you kill the job of 45000 people and if you are ready to transfer to other department then are you ready to provide them other job so that they can survive their families life.what you think that these people are involving in corruption and your full cabinet is totally honset.if any idea is not coming in your mind for the improvement of these shops so you want to remove it.is this type of knowledge you have gained in your life?are you running a dictatorship like govt in bihar instead of becoming people friendly? who has given you right to divide the people of Bihar in to different cast category like dalit to mahadalit?
Mr nitish kumar, r u listening ???
It gives immense pleasure when I hear something like this for Bihar. Hope this is not pseudo Bihar shining.
I pray God to make my home province a heaven.
Bihar goverment needs to persue power projects very urgently . They can go for singnature campaign agianst delay in coal linkage aand other clearance .
Bihar needs to make significant progress in capacity addition in power sector.
Mr Editor
Please give details of report card on your site
Bihari people had always been honest, hard working and straight forward by nature and have always worked like that . But because the rest of India thought it to be Biharis weakness and was unfair to bihar.
Bihar needed a educated leadership like nitish Kumar who can fight with the Center govt and get bihar’s fair share from the Center which Biahr was deprived off for the last 60 years.
With development oriented leadership and hard-working Bihari people , Biahr will surely become no. 1 again.
Jai bihar !! Jai Buddha !!
Mellowed down report card by Nitish Kumar. And mellowed down reporting by Jai Bihar. Earlier Nitish Kumar was advertising his achivement like he by some magical stick remove all Bihar’s problem. May be it took by-election result for him to realise, he is not perfect.
These are good signs for BIhar, Its a beginning of competative politics and gone were days when some people can rule for three or four consecutive term.
People has given message to politician that they can’t take them for granted, whether its Nitish or Lalu.

Dear pathak, there are too many religious cites like kesariya present in our state. It is not possible to make circuit house and other infrastrure at every places with limited resources in limited time. Nitish govt allocated Central University of Bihar in your region ( central govt wants it near about Patna) for developing your region. Also, sugar mills are in process of reopen. What else , you want ?

Dear Shailendra, please note that ‘Kesariya Buddha Stupa’ is the highest and the largest Buddha Stupa in the present world, so question does not arise of too many stupas or religious sites like ‘Kesariya Stupa’ existance. I appreciate your information regarding Central university and sugar mills. If that areas as I mentioned earlier are provided with facilities which are not too costly and very huge investment is required as seeing the annual budget, can generate revenue for Government directly and indirectly. I further suggest that Central and State Government jointly can plan for Medical and Engineering College at the level of AIIMS and IIT in that area as this area is quite, cool and calm free from huge traffic, industrial polution, population congestion, water polution, which can be helpful to the students and faculty, also being centrally located can cater the needs of public of many districts. These colleges must be in the surrounding of ‘Kesariya Stupa’ which can really create bigger attraction of the state, nation and world. These colleges can get famous faster. I appreciate work of Our Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar and in my blogs on various sites I have appraised him. We wish him very good luck for next assembly election 2010. We are also in the process of building ground for his victory, sitting thousands of miles away. I know that an Engineer can not be destructor but can only be creator. Am I right ?
