Barh station ransacked over Mamata’s proposal

News Desk - July 13, 2009

PATNA — Agitated over Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement favouring 50 per cent quota for locals in induction in railways through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), hundreds of youths today ransacked the Barh railway station and blocked the rail traffic for a few hours.

Hundreds of youths assembly at the Barh station in the Patna-Mokama section of the East Central Railway (ECR) this morning and went on a rampage, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Barh) Sujit Kumar said.

They ransacked the railway station building and blocked both Up and Down lines by putting up rail sleepers, he said.

Agitated youths also indulged in stone-throwing when policemen tried to disperse them in which a couple of constables sustained minor injuries, the ASP said.

Rail traffic in the section was disrupted for a couple of hours following the agitation, he said, adding the policemen had to use mild force to disperse the students.

Several trains, including Up and Down Howrah-New Delhi Poorva express, Shramajivi express and some passenger trains from Kiul to Patna and Rajgir to Patna were affected by the agitation and were reported running behind their schedule, Kumar added.

I am requesting to our great public to have patience and put up these matters at right forum. Don't destroy our own properties.
All these type of activities in india are politically supported and motivated and using the energy of our youths in negative way by our great and esteemed politicians.
I am requesting to our PM and Home Minister to take concrete step with the help of judiciary and bureaucrats in order to make somebody accountable in such situations.

this is a shameful act by mamta banerjee , but people reaction is more shameful by destroying property , but we need to oppose mamta banerjee , who will put railway back in bad state. We have to oppose but destroying is not good .
Better stop all movement of trains everywhere by stoping all railway tracks, by doing protests , dharnas etc. Apan raliway station toor ke kauno fayyda naikhe
