DID YOU KNOW? Kautilya, also known as Chanakya, was the wily and canny adviser to the Magadh king, Chandragupta Maurya.
"Henceforth (Jan 26, 2010), for all intents and purposes, Jai Bihar will use Patliputra instead of Patna (e.g. Patna University will be called Patliputra University). We appeal to all to do the same. Your suggestions solicited at s@jaibihar.com." - Sanjeev Singh

Upendra Kushwaha rejoins JD(U)

News Desk - November 26, 2009

PATNA — Rashtriya Samata Party of former leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Upendra Kushwaha merged with ruling JD(U) on Thursday giving a boost to the ruling party in the state.

The merger was formalized in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, state Water Resource Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav and other several JD(U) leaders at a function here.

Speaking at the function, Kushwaha announced that the merger was decided upon to continue work for all sections of society.

”We want that hands of the present chief minister to be further strengthened for carrying forward the development of the state,” he said and described Nitish Kumar as symbol of law and development.

Nitish expressed happiness over the merger and said it would bolster the strength of JD(U) in Bihar where state assembly poll is due towards the end of 2010.

It is certainly a very good news for Nitishji. He however, should be careful in keeping a balance with various class and castes in order to come back to power in next elections. It is good that development is the main priority of the present government, however should not forget, still deep rooted caste equations prevail in election and rival parties will try their best in exploiting such factors.
Hope reason of Upender Kushwaha being away from JDU for few years should be addressed in a amicable manner, since he represents a big chunk of voters which can hardly be ignored.

Any way, a good come backp of Upenderji and should be welcomed by all well wishers of JDU.

Raj Singh
